"I have a dream ... that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood..."

"Eu tenho um sonho ... o de que um dia, nas vermelhas colinas da Georgia, os filhos dos antigos escravos e os dos proprietários de escravos sejam capazes de se sentar à mesa da fraternidade..."

"I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character..."

Salientando a discrepância que então se verificava entre a evolução tecnológica e a espiritual, muito embora proferido na década de 60 do séc.XX este discurso mantém uma notável, assustadora e, mesmo trágica, actualidade.
